OMG! $119,922,500 for the fourth Scream painting. Details have not been revealed about the buyer, so I’m still hoping that it’s a wealthy Norwegian-American who is going to donate it to the Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum in Decorah.
It’s a good occasion to highlight another in my series of Skrik interpretations in textiles. The rya I have planned is still not on the loom, but here is Munch’s iconic image in french knots, a summer travel-around project a couple of years ago.
The image is 5″ by 7″. I counted the knots in one square inch, and estimate that the whole image is comprised of about 9,100 knots. Here’s a detail, albeit fuzzy.
The other Skrik textile interpretations I have finished so far include a tapestry and a linoleum block print I’ve used on fabric and on sheepskin for a cushion and a wall hanging. Another embroidery is almost done, but my knitted sculptural Scream needs more thought.
