Featherweight Fleece Slippers

I attended the Federation 2016 retreat this weekend, as the keynote speaker (From Virgins to Spaceships: A Visual Voyage through Norwegian Tapestry), an instructor (Scandinavian Fringe Embellishments), and a student.  I took a class in felting Icelandic fleece slippers from Karen Boom and her mother Ellenor Kristiansen.  SO FUN.

Here are the slippers completed, but before embellishment.

I added a row of fluffed-up fringe, one of the techniques I demonstrated in my class.  (I took these photos at two times of day – the color looks so different.)

Also, here is a Youtube video on the process; in a mere minute you see the process.

I wrote an article on the Weavers Guild website about about my first experience at this annual retreat.  Read this and you will want to go next year, too!  A First Time at Federation.
