The curator of the National Craft Museum of Finland, Anneli Hemmilä-Nurmi, was kind enough to send me some photos of the “Deep Roots” exhibit, which includes my image of a Northern Minnesota wheat field. It’s fun to think of it on display so far away. If you are visiting Finland soon, it will be up until August 23. I wish I could have attended the opening! Several of the American artists were able to make the trip.
Five members of my Scandinavian Weavers Study Group had pieces in this show. I wrote more about all the pieces on the group’s blog.
I visited the Craft Museum in 2013, while on the Vesterheim Textile Tour. I was very inspired by these long red rugs. I’m collecting red fabric now for my own variation.
