I’ll bet you’d like to see some excellent Frida Hansen birds, woven amidst beautiful June flowers. Juni, Frida Hansen’s 1918 transparent tapestry, is at the KODE Museum in Bergen.
I spoke with two women from Portland, Oregon, who were examining the weaving in amazement. How could it possibly be woven, they asked. They had been chatting with the guard who told them that it was hung as a temporary exhibit, but has attracted so much attention that it might remain in the spot at the top of the staircase.
Magpies and parrots gather in Frida’s garden.
Some of the flowers are less easy to recognize, especially to a non-gardener like me. Suggestions or disagreements are welcome!
This truly is a work worthy of close attention for both image and technique. I was happy for the chance to do it today.
