Angie Parker’s Krokbragd book

I have loved Angie Parker‘s work for years. Every time she shows a new krokbragd project in her Facebook or Instagram feed, my reaction is the same–delight and a bit of anguish that I am not at a loom also weaving krokbragd. Her new book, Krokbragd: Contemporary Weaving with Colour, only strengthens those feelings.

I delight in her vibrant color choices. I especially love her patterns where she uses krokbragd to make rows of precise little squares. And because I am working hard in Frida Hansen’s transparent tapestry technique, I have another feeling–the bit of anguish that I don’t have time (for now) to explore one of my favorite techniques, krokbragd.

Jan Mostrom wrote a review of the book for the Norwegian Textile Letter, “Review: “Krokbragd: Contemporary Weaving with Colour” by Angie Parker.” Check it out for photos and an expert weaver’s evaluation.

Angie contacted me early on in her krokbragd research, and I am honored that pieces of mine are featured in her book. My Danskbragd Moose is on page 11.

You can read more about the weaving process at: “Danskbrogd Moose – Done” and “Danskbrogd Moose Disaster.”

A combination danskbrogd/krobragd piece from my X series is on page 16.

Several of the X series are shown in this post: “eXperiments on X: An Xhibit of Weaving.”

And my pandemic-era krokbragd, Mask Up (2020), is found on p. 74.

This is so exciting, that my pieces are included in a British book. But I am equally excited that I told Angie about two of my friends whose krokbragd work is amazing. When you obtain Angie’s excellent book, be sure to note the photos and text from Jan Mostrom and Wynne Mattila.

My next krokbragd will feature small squares, long lines, and flamboyant color, a la Angie Parker. I predict that the world production of colorful krokbragd weavings will increase with the availability of Krokbragd: Contemporary Weaving with Colour.
