I recently ran across some random woven remnants and samples in a box. I liked the colorful, complex monksbelt pattern of the piece on top. I wove it as part of a group project of the Dobby Weavers Interest Group at the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. (A Dobby loom is computer-assisted.)
I also wove a colorful full runner. But where was it? It’ll turn up, I thought. And sure enough I found it last week, in a drawer at the Weavers Guild, when I was looking for something else. It was unhemmed and fraying. Now it is finished.
I remembered writing about it while I was weaving it, so I looked up the post — and realized why I forgot about it for three years. The post, “Thank God for the Unweave Button,” was written on February 22, 2020. The next week we traveled to Atlanta, and by the time we returned, just in time for lockdown, we were eyeing all the passengers in the terminal warily and bought disinfectant to spray on our phones.
Finding it was a nice surprise.
