Frida’s Flowers: A Still Life. A piece in Frida Hansen’s wool transparency technique looks different depending on which sort of wall is behind it. These are at the Northrup King Building. Haven’t decided on my favorite. #fridahansen #tapestry #tapestryweaving #tapestryweaversofinstagram #handweaving
I’ll be ready to post final shots of “Frida’s Flowers: A Still Life” tomorrow, when I find a good backdrop. The finishing took longer than expected. The braided header with a transparent rod works well. It just took figuring out. Off the loom, the bottom section had issues, spreading threads, a solid section that gapped out. It’s fixed!
“Frida’s Flowers: A Still Life” came off the loom this weekend. Here is the last visible bit before I cut it off. I’m braiding the top end now, to make loops that will go over a transparent acrylic rod. Full photo soon. #tapestryweaving
I need to advance the warp to finish the final large flower in “Frida’s Flowers: A Still Life.” It shouldn’t take long now. #fridahansen #tapestryweaving #billedvev #contemporaryweaving #tapestry
Heart of a rose and aster underway. Weaving again after dog attack saga, part two. Plan, December 23: Complete family dinner prep for 18. Eat. Drink champagne and talk amidst the chaos of grandchildren and gifts. Reality: notice dog bite infection at 4 pm. Finish dinner prep. Eat dinner. Open gifts. Go to ER. Notice entire body rash indicating an allergy to the antibiotic. Go to the hospital for two days of IV antibiotics. Spend the “dead week” of the year feeling itchy and fatigued. Vow that next year we are going to have a big new year’s eve party. But it’s a new year with new plans, and new snow. I am weaving inside the window at the top of the photo.
The “vase” at the bottom of “Frida’s Flowers: A Still Life” is done; it’s time to roll it up on the loom a bit. I hoped to be farther by Christmas. Now the pretty flowers begin! This is a photo with the cartoon behind the weaving, and another showing how delicate it will appear when done. #tapestry #tapestryweaversofinstagram #fridahansen #weavingmn #weaversofinstagram #tapestryweaving
