Valley Grove Tapestries on Display

The Valley Grove Tapestries have been in the stone church this summer, and there is a great opportunity coming up to see them in their home, at the Fall Social on September 18 at Valley Grove. The music sounds wonderful. From the Valley Grove website:

September 18th  Country Social 1-4 pm

The Valley Grove Lutheran churches rang with music when they were built in the 19th century. They’ll ring with Scandinavian melodies once again during the Country Social on September 18. At 2pm in the newer church, you can hear a recital of Nordic classics. Organist Melanie Ohnstad (a Norwegian by heritage), violinist Kristina Lantz (Swedish) and vocalist Erika Lantz will perform music by great composers from the region—Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish—as well as traditional folk music that moves the soul.

There will also be rides on hay wagons through the prairie. This is a photo I took on September 28 last year. This time of year is lovely in southern Minnesota!

After the Fall Social, the tapestries will travel north, to the Nordic Center in Duluth, Minnesota. They will be on display, along with more of my weavings and the preparatory materials from the Valley Grove tapestries, from September 30-October 29, 2022. The opening will be from 5-7 on Friday, September 30, and I am giving a gallery talk on Saturday, October 1, at 2 pm.

Fall in Duluth? Another good reason for a road trip. Note that there are limited permanent open hours for the Nordic Center, Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4. If you are visiting at another time, contact Carol Colburn to arrange a viewing.
