Since I am consumed by tapestry these days and no longer have a large floor loom, I am so appreciative of the opportunities to weave on group projects at the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. (Plug for the Weavers Guild: A great benefit of membership is the opportunity to participate in a variety of interest groups. Several of them sponsor group projects.)
Our Scandinavian Weavers Study Group set up a warp for Kukkoladräl. You can read about the project and setting up the warp in this post on the Scandinavian Weavers blog, “New, Year, New Project!” It was so fun and surprising to see the different effects based on the weft colors each weaver chose. I thought I was choosing a gray that would appear very neutral (almost like black), but it turned out to look quite blue.

Whenever I hem a handwoven runner, I get a reward – flowers for the house and for photographing. I purchased a pack of twenty yellow tulips at Trader Joe’s the day I picked up the runner, fresh off the loom. I didn’t get it hemmed that night, and I had forgotten that our bad cat, who doesn’t have an issue with other flowers, loves to de-head tulips in a vase. So by the time this was photographed, there are only 13 tulips.

This is what I found this morning when I went to make coffee.

This is a detail of the runner.

Next runner, new flowers.
