I was pleased to hear that my krokbragd weaving mounted on a sheepskin won “Best of Show” at the 2011 National Exhibition of Folk-Art in the Norwegian Tradition at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa.
The weaving incorporates traditional pattern elements from Lom and Skjåk in Norway. I translated an article from a 1985 issue of the Norwegian magazine, Husflid, and wove five pieces, experimenting with the traditional pattern bands.
You can read the article and see photos of some of the “old pattern” pieces.
