It’s less than a month until I teach the billedvev workshop at Vesterheim, and my stack of samples is growing. Last week I started a narrow piece, beginning with a variant of vertical outline with pointed dovetailing. What next? A star, I thought–there are so many star variants in medieval Norwegian tapestries. Here are several from old tapestries and from newer ones in the old tradition.
After I began the star I realized my tiny warp was not wide enough and I just wove triangle sides and a top. It’s a spaceship!
And a spaceship needs to go to the moon, a perfect opportunity to weave a circle (because we’ll want to discuss weaving circles in class).
