I am starting a new transparent tapestry workshop at Vesterheim Folk Art School tomorrow, and have another student tapestry from last year’s Vesterheim workshop to share. Jan Mostrom just finished her tapestry with apples and leaves. I had not seen gold warp used before. It worked beautifully. She warped on a Hagen metal frame, so she had plenty of leftover yarn as fringe, and hasn’t decided exactly how long they should be cut. (Also note, my home snapshot does not do it justice.)
Here’s a detail. Her sensitive use of varied colors for the leaves and fruit adds so much interest.

You can see more photos of Jan’s design process and her weaving progress in this post: “Frida Hansen Class in Decorah: Part Two.”
It will be fun to see the transparencies that develop this weekend!
