When traveling I seek out interesting textiles in flea markets and second-hand stores. Many of the dishtowels in our kitchen drawer are linen calendars from places I have visited, or would like to visit. On our first day in Prague this summer I walked and walked, and stumbled upon a second-hand shop with mostly vintage clothing. In a basket under a rack of dresses I found this linen.
I stuck the package in my suitcase and didn’t realize until I returned home that the scene on the calendar was the same famous downtown square that I passed by many times during our stay. The fairy tale view seemed unreal, especially at night. When this photo was taken, I thought the buildings on the right side looked like a Hollywood movies set, as if I could walk behind them and see scaffolding holding up the pretty facades.
